That's SWEAT baby!
---------------------------
My trainer and I talked about:
-How jacked up my body got after the ultra
-Having symmetrical muscle strength
-How he basically has a girlfriend, but he's not ready to call her his girlfriend
-He had a dream about my brother Sky last night
-One of the benches in the gym is The Cadillac of Benches.
-------------------------
Workout:
First, he wanted to test my leg muscle symmetry. So, he put two marks on my knees:

Then he did all these tests with my leg in different positions, flexing and pushing and weird stuff. I laughed a lot because it was awkward. Verdict: My hips overcompensate for something, but they do it on both sides.
Then, we worked out.
3x
15 seated rows
15 smith machine chest presses
3x
15 squat to high rows
15 rope curls
3x
12 (per side) single arm chest presses
12 things where I would lie on a weight bench face down and pull weights to my chest of something
3x
15 shoulder pull down things
15 tricep extensions
------------
During the rope curls he attacked me with his fancy marker.

Hilarious.

I tried to steal the marker from him, but he was too smart for my game.

------------
Him: Are you back to eating normal again?
Me: Yeah.
Him: I can tell. You have salt bloat.
Awesome. But, hey, I had super salty grilled chicken for dinner last night, with super salty beans. So, that's what happens, Rose.
-----------
We also talked about finding middle ground with my diet. His theory was that my body was rejecting me going off the Slow Carb Diet, and that's why everything went to shit during the ultra. It did kind of make sense. I don't know.
But, I know that right now I'm eating shitty food "because I can." Even if I don't actually want it. It's not good, it's not healthy, and my jeans are telling me to cut that shit out, yo.
Of course, with my mom in town, all food is up in the air. She's an amazing cook, so I'm not limiting what I eat around her. Once she's gone I'll carve out some way to stop shoveling candy bars in my face "because I can."
It hasn't gone too far, though. I still have three unopened boxes of girl scout cookies in my office, staring at me every day.

What is your workout plan for today?
How have you been eating lately?
"I tried to steal the marker from him, but he was too smart for my game" - cracked me up!
ReplyDeleteNo work out planned. Eating right is something I have never done right. And now that I'm currently not running you would think that this would be something I would focus on. Not so much. I too have multiple boxes of GS cookies on my desk. They are the devil. I type all this as I shovel a king size candy bar into my pie hole. ;)
First of all...your guns are SERIOUS. maybe I need to go work out with this trainer. ha!
ReplyDeleteMy workout today will hopefully be another little running adventure with my pup after work. Hopefully I will also actually follow my doctor's orders for once and find somewhere "flat" to run...oops.
My eating was healthy for a while...then I got the okay to run again...so obviously that meant eating everything in sight and snacking all day so as to have as much energy as possible for my mileage that has been cut in more than half...ummm right. Anyway...thats what I keep telling myself :) I will never be able to say no to sugar.
Lastly. your posts are hilarious. I LOVE reading your blog and literally let out a little squeal of excitement every time you have a new post...okay maybe I do not go that far...but I do not think my fingers have ever clicked on a link so fast just to see the new post goodness :)
have a good day!!!
Ha at first I thought the mark on your arm was a tattoo because I didn't look close enough. Workout plan for today is running after work! Yay. I've been eating fairly healthy lately. Last night I had grilled chicken and broccoli. This morning an egg and cheese sandwich (made at home, not McD's!) and then for lunch salad with peppers, onions and grilled chicken. Yummy!
ReplyDeleteHilarious! My eating is awesome. Super healthy meals, lots of veggies and vitami...oh, wait. No it's not. Too much easter candy on the shelves!
ReplyDeleteWorkout is easy run, maybe 6 miles? We'll see! :)
Shoulders today! Maybe cardio? Who knows.
ReplyDeleteI'll buy the Girl Scout cookies off ya. For real. I missed them this year and no other cookies compare to my dearly beloved Samoas.
REST day for me! I worked out last night- elliptical 45 mins., plus toning arms, back, and abs.
ReplyDeleteI too thought the mark on your arm was an interesting tattoo.
No candy for me! I threw my healthy habits out the window at my nephews party this past weekend but I'm back on track now =)
Nice guns, there! Verry nice!
ReplyDeleteMy workout today, once I lift fat ass off of couch, is: 5 mile tempo run. 1 hour of Crossfit.
I'm responding strictly so I can put that into print. Now I must do. Thank you for providing this forum.
How've I been eating lately? Bad bad bad. I'm a crappy eater. But I've planned turkey burgers and salad for dinner, so all is forgiven, yes?
Awesome arms there missus, you make me jealous!
ReplyDeleteRockin' some great guns!
ReplyDeleteNice arms, sweet! I took spin today, felt great! I've been eating like CRAP lately, but today I am back on track. Blogged about it so I am held accountable :P
ReplyDeleteHow can you leave those cookies unopened. I dodged those Girls Scouts at the store--I would eat a whole box in an hour, easy.
ReplyDeletethe easy question for me would be "what haven't I been eating" :-(
ReplyDeleteGreat workout there, Smith machine=beeyatch in my world, I hate it .... passionately!
Rose, thanks so much for your comment. I love hearing from other bloggers and you CRACK me up. Your personal trainer story is hilarious!
ReplyDeleteI, unfortunately, don't have a workout plan today. I had workout intentions, but those went out the door when I realized my mother, brother and sister in law are coming in town...tomorrow. Let the baking and cleaning begin!
Alissa
I love it when trainers see fit to comment on bloat. NOT. Over the line buddy!
ReplyDeleteGlad you're back to working out though, and in good spirits :-)
I always look forward to sweaty pits, funky socks and an open mouth pose each time I come to your blog! haha
ReplyDeleteI've been eating a lot of pizza. And oatmeal m & m cookies. And sweet potatoes, avocados and spinach. lol TRYING to balance. Not sure if my jeans would agree with me.
You have fabulous arms. I want them.
ReplyDeleteI won't eat them.
I've been eating bad bad things. And i only realized this today. Must change my eating habits. I may have even gained a pound or two. Gasp!
ReplyDeleteMy workout plan for today is to do the 30 Day Shred and nothing else- I have a long run tomorrow. I want my legs to be fresh!
ReplyDeleteI totally want those arms. The marker is hilarious - at first I thought that was a tatoo on your shoulder. Enjoy your splurge for a bit - you deserve it after that race!
ReplyDeleteA.You are so cool
ReplyDeleteB. AS mentioned a billion times your arms RAAAA-ULE
C. You make me wanna run an ultramarathon
D. Please lets do option C.
E. Answer A-D
(answer E!)
I've been eating about 1000 calories more per day the last several months than I was a year ago (3000 now, 2000 then), and my body hasn't changed a smidge. Whatevs.
ReplyDeleteI also have never kept track of macros. My diet is probably 80% salt.
Oh girl scout cookies, you ruin all the healthy eating plans! I need to start eating better because my body obviously doesn't like my food choices, but I just can't break out of bad habits that are convenient.
ReplyDeleteOohh that is cool with the marks, I've been reading in my training manual all about how important body symmetry is and how to measure it :)
