Three Things Thursday

1. I saw this and was like "YES!" It's so true. I don't care if you ran three laps and it took you 20 minutes. I don't care if you only managed 20 minutes walking on the treadmill and thought you were going to keel over. You are getting up and getting out there, and that means you're already winning the hardest battle.

2. Study: 3 square meals a day paired with lean protein help people feel full during weight loss. Eating fewer, regular-sized meals with higher amounts of lean protein can make one feel more full than eating smaller, more frequent meals, according to new research from Purdue University. IIiiiinnnnteresting. I'm not good at eating smaller, more frequent meals, and I looooooooooooooooooove protein, so this is good news that I can just keep rocking what I'm rocking.

3. If I could staple this to the head of everyone who ever told me they don't lift weights because they don't want to look like a man, I would.

  1. I'm with you on #2. I often fist bump people for #1 and holy bodies on #3. I'll lift some weights tonight if you promise this is what'll happen to me. :)

  4. Maybe I'll make #3 into a t-shirt to wear to the gym so I can just point to it when people ask me if I'm worried about getting "bulky".

  5. Do people still think that about number 3?? I was hoping that mentality was limited to my mom's generation.

  6. OMG, that weights thing is SO true. I can't tell you how many of my friends think that. It takes lots of testosterone! Why don't people know this?

  7. 1 is so true. Thanks for the reminder. I have heard plenty of people say that about 3...since when did 'steroids' and 'weightlifting' become synonymous?

  8. I love this post, especially the point about lapping people sitting on the couch!

  9. I especially love #3! I WISH it was as easy to gain muscle as most women make it out to be. Ugh!

  10. I am just starting out with #2- was on the small meals for so long and just kept on eating. The 3 meals is really working :)

One of my favorite quotes is along the lines of #1: DNFL>DNF>DNS (did not finish last is better than did not finish is better than did not start)

    #3 is awesome :)

  12. Okay, yes, I really need to start lifting weights more often ;)
And I love #1!!!! SOOOOOO true!

  13. I love number one! I do a really bad job of eating protein at lunch and breakfast, so I'll have to keep two in mind.

  14. I absolutely love #1. That may be my new motto!! Love, love, love it. I gave you a shout out on my blog today.....you might know that already if you followed my blog :)

  16. Now wait a second! *I* lift weights. Neither ONE of those things has happened to me. Am I doing it wrong??

  18. #3- But it such a good excuse! Oh wait, that's right. It's not.

  19. Those are all great, especially 1, 2, and 3 ;)

Somebody told me I should wear gloves when I lift weights because it'll make my hands rough and that's unladylike. Um...okay...I am okay with that. My feet have nasty callouses and I love them.

Though I am not sure that lifting weights will give me huge boobs...

  20. I will say one of my peeves is the kind of fit/muscular/weight lifting models who have giant fake boobs. Idk why, but it bugs me so much.

  21. So if I life weights I'll get implants and look like I'm having imaginary sex with people? Rock on!

  22. I've never really believed in the 6 meals vs. 3 meals thing, I think it's all bull!

I tried the 6 meals thing, my food bill shot up and I constantly obsessed over food. No bueno.

  23. LOVE number 1. As a new-ish runner, this was perfect to see. I ended up downloading it and setting it as my background. Thanks for the inspiration!!!
