Three Things Thursday

1. The blisters on the bottoms of my feet are healed enough to walk around normally. I spent the last two days limping, so this is a welcome change. I wouldn't trust myself to run around yet, but it's a step in the right direction.

2. The battle against my body for better posture wages on. I rigged my chair so there is NO SLOUCHING. Okay, it's still possible, but I made it really, really hard. This helps, except sitting up straight is harrrrrrrdddddddd. I want to slouch sometimes. NO SLOUCHING! It's easier while I'm standing. Once I'm at home on the couch I ignore my posture. My focus right now is Posture At Work. Jeez. I wish this stuff had been ingrained in me as a kid. It's friggen HARD to learn it now.

3. I keep having to stop myself from buying more exercise Groupons. I have, currently unused, 3 yoga groupons (for a total of 25-30 classes I think?), and 1 crossfit groupon (for 15 classes). I need to use these bad boys before I think of buying more. It's all about staggering them, so I get the best use before they expire. But there are such good deals out there!

Bonus Thing: I'm *this* close to buying a Kindle. I'm going to be doing some longer traveling this year, and, to give you an example, I brought 6 books on my honeymoon, and ended up buying 10 more while there. I read. A ton. And quickly. But I'm having these moral quandaries about loaning books and used book stores and killing the paper and stuff. I don't know. I need to think about it.

What are your thoughts on eBook readers? Do you have one? Do you LOVE it? Are you against them?

  1. I have a roadtrip coming up with about 15 family members and then we're camping for a week. I'm thinking a kindle would be nice to have so I don't have to lug a bunch of books, but I'm in love with REAL books so I'm on the fence.

  4. I'm at the library at least once a week checking out the max allowable, but I think a Kindle would be great for traveling. My mom got one for Christmas and I was a little surprised at how much she enjoys it.

  5. I gave my hubs an eReader for his birthday last year. He just sold it on eBay. There is just something about holding a book in your hands.

And your post made me sit up straight...for a few seconds. Good luck!

  6. I think eBook readers are about the coolest thing everrrrr. I have mixed emotions about them, because I have a nice collection of books in my bookcase, and I'd like to continue that collection. But, at the same time, they are just so darn cool! Anyway, my reasons aren't really valid and important reasons. But yeah...

  7. I had my first experience of an eBook last night, hubby has an iPad and downloaded the 4 Hour body to it and I found myself merrily flipping away through it but had not yet picked up the book. Ti took a bit of getting used to but honestly I think I may still be old school and prefer books on paper, but then I don't try lug half a library around with me on holiday, I'm just not a holiday reader.

  8. I am your slouching sista. I was really good at not doing it after I first started seeing the physio. But now I'm slumping back into bad habits..

I have a distaste for Kindles -- I want the real book thank you. But everyone I know who has one LOVES it.

  9. M has a Nook and loves it. I haven't used it much but I really like it too. The big reasons we choose Nook over Kindle was the Nook accepts more formats more easily then the Kindle (ie if you have a random PDF file of some book not bought from Amazon or B&N) and that you can check out library e-books from LAPL on the Nook.

  10. I wish I lived closer to a big city so I could get in on the Groupon action. Everything is in Nashville and Memphis, and I'm halfway between the two, a couple hours from each.

  11. I have a groupon for a boot camp. six classes for $20! That is insane. I had to buy it. Now I just have to use it.

I'm too cheap for an e-reader.

  13. Since I work in the printing industry, I haven't take the ebook plunge. Soon, I will be buying an HP TouchPad, so there you go.

Rose, regarding your calendar suggestion. If you email me through my Blog I can give you the reason I wouldn't want to do that. Only if you are intested. No biggie.

  15. My husband has a Kindle and he loves it. It's definitely easier than traveling with a bunch of books. I just recently borrowed it to read one of Jen Lancaster's novels and it might just be on my birthday list now.
