Meta Post: Comments

So, I'm still new to all this blogging stuff, and I was trying to have the best comment system possible. I switched over to an alternative commenting thing (Intense Debate) to allow for comment threading and emailed responses. Instead I got a bunch of people who couldn't comment. BOO!

So, I'm back to the default commenting system. If you had problems commenting before, you should be fine now.

Since we're on the subject, what the best way to respond to a comment? In the blog? In the commenter's blog? Via email?

  1. Haha, I'm making a meta, meta-comment, as I've come to comment on your comments post about a comment you just left..

    Oh oh oh..

Blogger is sucky for this actually. Kinda makes me wish I'd gone with WP. But I usually go back over to others' blogs to reply to comments they've left me. Unless my reply is something I think it's important for others to see..

Anyway, I just wanted to feel your weights/running pain a little more. B/c it does my head in! I thought this might be something you relate to, as you train in a similar way to me. (I'd be running right now instead of rowing, if I could.) It's so difficult having a foot in the weights world, and seeing muscle developing and definition coming through, and then having to plough down a huge bowl of because you've got to get up in the morning to do a 5k intervals session.

But then as I'm whining I realise that it's my choice, and that I could give one or the other up if I wanted to. But I just can't..

I guess this is why people have on and off seasons. But that seems so.. organised.. (pretentious!)

  2. Well for this girl, I always subscribe once I comment. So if you respond to something on here I will see it in my e-mail!

  3. There *is* a subscribe by email button! Nice. Good to know.

Looking at wordpress comments, man, they have it way better. But, it's too much effort to move.

  4. oooh, if you figure it out please let me know! (tho, would that be via comment or email??) I never have really figured that out. I kinda come back and comment in YOUR comments, though that is so clunky I do it very rarely, and thus many of those comments are uncommented-upon. Which sucks. Therefor, I mainly re-comment in my head, but the ESP doesn't seem to work so well . . .

  5. I usually answer a question in the commenter's comments. And I know I appreciate it when someone else answers my question in MY comments because I'm bad about asking something and then forgetting to go back to the original blog post and see the answer.

  6. I like it when people have their email linked so I can directly reply. This comes in super handy if they ask a question and have no Blog..

But alas I sorta SUCK at replying in general..

Boooo.. hehehe have a good night Rose..

  7. @Mel, you have like, a billion followers, who all comment. If you tried to respond to everyone you'd be commenting 24 hours a day. hahahah.
